About the juried readings: The Nottingham Poetry Series invites submissions of poetry for its three annual readings. Each reading features one invited reader and two readers selected by a jury from the pool of submissions. Readings last approximately 40 minutes, which is split into sections of 10 minutes, 10 minutes, and 20 minutes. Regretfully, due to budgetary constraints and our commitment to providing poetry events to the community free of charge, the Nottingham Poetry Series cannot at this time reimburse readers chosen from the pool of submissions for any travel or lodging expense. We will happily work with any reader coming from a distance to find affordable or free lodging. About submitting: When to submit:: Submissions for the reading on October 22nd, 2009 (with George Szirtes) are open August 10-September 4, inclusive. Submissions for the reading on January 28th, 2010 (with Charles Bennett) are open November 16-December 11, inclusive. Submissions for the reading on April 22nd, 2010 (with Kerri French) are open February 15-March 5, inclusive. Response times: Authors of successful submissions will be notified during the week following the last day of the submission period. We regret that due to the volume of submissions we are unable to notify unsuccessful applicants. How to submit: Submit via email only to submissions [at] nottinghampoetryseries [dot] com. Submissions may include up to eight poems as a single Microsoft Word document or .pdf, titled with your LAST NAME ONLY. Put your name, email address, postal address, and telephone number, as well as the titles of all submitted poems, on a cover sheet. Do not include your name on any of the poems. A covering letter, including any relevant publications, is optional.
